Well Hellooooooooooo!!!!

HELLO there! It’s been…well forever. I have been bust working full time :)   Therefore, less sewing, crafting, and blogging :(   But, I am going to try real hard to find a way to integrate the sewing and blogging back into my life. O how I have missed it all.  How have YOU all been for the last 4 months?  I hope well!!  I have so much to share……..first I have a new craft space. Hubby built me a new L shaped desk using…ready?  2 doors, and legs. All items were purchased at out local Habitat for Humanity store..love it!  I think the total project was under $30.  At this very moment I have no pics of my crafty space…but I will post that next post :)

In the past few months I have been crazy busy working…and not crafting at all.   But, I have been itching to sew/craft.  This past week my family has been sick with the swine flu…it was horrible. We are all finally feeling a bit better.  Since I have not had the energy for anything..I have been flipping thru my craft books, and magazines.  I finally feel better so I went ahead and tried something  I have been itching to do….Applique. I have been dying to applique for some time now.  As of today I have finished my first appliqued tee for my daughter. It is of an owl….if you guys like it I may very well post a download of my owl pattern. But, you will have to let me know if your interested or not.  So here it a pic of the tee.

What do ya think?  I am so hooked. I couldn’t just stop at the tee…I had to make a matching skirt. This is something else I have never made before.  I have always been apprehensive when it comes to making clothing….why? I really do not know….especially now. It was really much easier than I had anticipated.  Now an appliqing monster has been created.  I’m not sure I am going to be able to stop :)   Here is a pic of the full outfit.

She loves them!  I will be doing some thinks a little different with the skirt next time. But it is cute regardless of the little mishaps.  I need some practice with my stitching on the applique..but for a first I am quite happy!

Do you applique? If so pleas share any tips or good tutorials, blogs that have tips/ideas.  Also do you make cloths for your kids?  Do you have any blogs/tutorial links to share?  I love finding new blogs, and always love tutorials!!

Okay, I am off to cook some dinner….I will blog again soon…promise!

  1. Soooooo cute! I fell in love with applique a while ago too, when I made a tee for my little girl and some matching ruffle pants http://snugglebugblog.com/2009/04/26/just-finished-cuteness/ (ignore the blanket and scroll down). Don’t have any tips except practice, practice, practice! And experiment with stitch length…a cute and fun look is a longer zigzag stitch on some stuff. Good for you!! :)

  2. The owl and skirt is so very cute! I love the fabric and the simple shape of the owl. And the button eyes! Your model is adorable. You did a fantastic job. Clothing is my thing. So I’m understanding of how fun the applique is. But very time consuming when doing multiple orders… but very popular!

  3. I was wondering when you would come back to blogging. :) love Love LOVE the appliqued owl shirt. The fabric is awesome and I want one just like it!!!

  4. I lvoe your owl!

  5. So cute! I’ve only done little bits with applique. It sort of intimidates me. I do like using the two-sided fusible web with it so that it is stuck to the fabric. I have an appliqued towel that I want to make for my grandmother, but I’m going to be using my embroidery machine for it!
