Slammed!
Just wanted to pop in a say HI! Sorry for neglecting the blog as of late. Truth is, business has really picked up in the shop.
I’ve been slammed and I am loving it. But, this leaves very little time for much else.
I’ve really been enjoying all the custom orders I’ve been getting. This gives me the opportunity to make different goodies.
Some I’ve been wanting to make and just haven’t gotten around to it. Others I never would have thought to make.
I also got a license to make and sell Lil Blue Boo Sienna Dresses.
If your not familiar with LBB, they are upcycled knit dresses.
Perfect for old tees
But, they have been a hit…yeah!!
I love how they can be worn in any season. Due to the fact that they are perfect for layering.
Here are a “FEW” of the tees I picked up to upcycle.
Here’s a cute one I just finished up this week.
It cracks me up!
I also made my first tutu recently.
Here it is on my daughter.
I went a little overboard with the tulle….and made it longer then I would have liked. But she likes it.
{as long as she is wearing leggings or tights underneath}
Cotton Candy anyone?!
Here is a Custom Birthday Set I made.
I really enjoyed making these.
I finally made something for my son too.
Here is another pic of him since I’m always posting pics of the girl.
Oooooooh, I just love him!
Another kids item I added to the shop…..
Good old crayon rolls.
For the girlies:
For the little dudes:
So there you go, a glimpse into what I’ve been up to.
I’d love to hear about what you’ve busy doing.
I’ll make sure to blog again soon.
Since I cleaned my studio, I have some scrapbooking goodies to give away.
I’ll make sure to get pics and get that posted
Have a good one!!
Shop Update & Sale
I’ve been busy sewing away. I finally got around to taking some product pictures, and added them to the shop.
Here are a few of the goodies.
Swell Zippy Pouch
Lovebirds Key Fob Wristlet
Pink Damask Cell Phone Pouch
Create You Own Adjustable Dog Collar
and
Knit Owl Dress {sizes 0-3 mo. – 5t}
Along with a bunch of other fun stuff.
Best of all, the WHOLE shop is on sale until Friday 8/20.
Sew Dressy
Have you sewn or crafted anything lately? I have to say that I keep my sewing machines pretty busy.
This last week especially. I made some new products for the shop. I finally took photos so I need to list them.
I also made more dresses for my little Fia. She now has a million and one handmade dresses
But for real, I like to try different styles.
I had never made a peasant style dress before last week.
I made this one:
For some reason I made the 5t instead of 4t. So of course it’s a little big on my munchkin.
I have also been wanting to sew with knits. When I went to JoAnn’s I saw the cutest fabric, and made this:
It matches her colorful Cotton Blossom’s hat perfectly, see?!
I also made a little rolled rosette hair clip with the scraps.
So much cute…I can barely handle it.
(do you see how much her hair has grown since she cut it herself HERE)
I think I pretty much have this dress style down pat.
They are even cuter when the sleeves are a different fabric then the dress.
Speaking of different, have you ever seen the Lil Blue Boo Dresses?
Ashley makes the most amazing up-cycled dresses.
She also sells the pattern so that those of us that can sew can make them.
I purchased the Sienna Dress pattern a while back.
My hubby and I hit the local Salvation Army Saturday, and I walked out of there with 39 tees.
They were 99 cents, and super cute so I HAD to get them.
The I raided my closet, and the kids, and hubs.
Here is the 2nd one I made: (the 1st is not pic worthy, trust me)
and on the girlie
perfect dress for dancing
The bottom of this dress is actually a jersey cotton pillowcase I found in the closet.
It’s so soft, and Fia loves it. This was clear since she wore it to bed last night.
As well as tell me that she wants to wear it even when it snows.
I went back to the thrift store today and left with 34 more tees.
I think I have a new addiction, 99 cent thrifted tees.
Is there a group for that? Seriously, I already need Fabric-holics Anonymous. lol
See what I mean? I am 100% serious..I need help!
Anyhoo, this is the dress I made today in the works
Now it’s all done
The reason I went thrifting today was because I was hunting for a blue & white striped shirt to match the Kerropi Tee.
Kerropi, the frog has a blue & white striped shirt on. So the blue and white stripe tee was a perfect match.
I love it!!
I am debating on making some for sale. But still haven’t decided. I would have to purchase a license thru LBB first.
We shall see
What have you been up to? Make anything fun?
If yes link up and do share.

*************************HALTER DRESS TUTORIAL****************************
First off you need to gather your supplies:
{1 yd fabric, scissors, thread, ruler, elastic}
You will need to measure your little one.
-Measure the chest & divide in 1/2. Then add 1/2 of new measurement plus 2 more inches.
{my daughter’s was 22″ so then divide by 2 which comes to 11″ plus 8″ = 19″}
-Then measure the length; from shoulder to desired length of dress.
Add 1″ to this if not using a serger.
{my daughter’s was 22″. I am using a serger}
-Cut out your front and back panels of the dress.
(Mine were 22″ long x 19″ wide}
-Fold one piece in 1/2 WST, then cut armholes.
Fold back piece in 1/2 and line up next to front piece.
Cut back piece along the bottom armhole of front piece.
If using a serger, serge the top and bottoms seams, as well as armholes on front piece.
If your not using a serger you can zig zag stitch to finish the seams.
Now you need to fold armholes inward about 1/4″
and stitch.
Next you will fold down the top seam of the halter dress
and stitch.
Cut you elastic piece at 1/2 your chest measurement minus 3″
{so my daughters chest all around is 22″ divide in 1/2 11″ minus 3″ = 8″ piece of elastic}
Attach a safety pin to end of elastic piece.
Feed the elastic thru the back pieces casing.
Then stitch down the edge of the elastic on both sides.
So that it stays in place.
Line up back piece and front piece RST.
Pin only one side together.
Make sure bottom hem is lined up as well as top part.
Stitch up the side seam, and serge. {or finish seam with zig zag stitch}
Repeat these steps for other side of the dress.
Now you need to make the tie for the halter.
Cut a piece of fabric that is 26″ long x 2″ wide.
Yours may need to be shorter for smaller dress, or longer bigger dress.
Fold in each end of strip and press.
then fold the strip in 1/2, and press.
Next, open the folded piece and fold side in towards the 1/2, and press
then you will fold the strip in 1/2 once again, press, and stitch.
Attach safety pin to end of tie, and thread thru casing at top of the dress.
You will then fold the arm holes in again (just a bit) press, and top stitch.
Now you need to finish the bottom hem.
Either your end is serged or has a zig zag stitch.
Fold hem in about 1/2″, press, and top stitch.
Guess what?! Your Finished…woohoo!
Try it on your little mama and take some pics cause I’d love to see
Hopefully my tutorial was clear enough.
If not feel free to email me so I can clarify.
You can also leave me comments about what you think of the dress

What other kind of tutorials would you like me to post?
I know not everyone sews, so I’d like to keep an eye out for things YOU would like to make too.
I can’t wait to post pics from the beach. I took so many and alot of editing needs to be done.
The whole family had a fantastic trip. It wore us all out though.
I am recouping from all the fun in the sun.
Funny how vacations {with children} seem to make you more tired in the end.
But it’s totally worth it
