Slammed!
Just wanted to pop in a say HI! Sorry for neglecting the blog as of late. Truth is, business has really picked up in the shop.
I’ve been slammed and I am loving it. But, this leaves very little time for much else.
I’ve really been enjoying all the custom orders I’ve been getting. This gives me the opportunity to make different goodies.
Some I’ve been wanting to make and just haven’t gotten around to it. Others I never would have thought to make.
I also got a license to make and sell Lil Blue Boo Sienna Dresses.
If your not familiar with LBB, they are upcycled knit dresses.
Perfect for old tees
But, they have been a hit…yeah!!
I love how they can be worn in any season. Due to the fact that they are perfect for layering.
Here are a “FEW” of the tees I picked up to upcycle.
Here’s a cute one I just finished up this week.
It cracks me up!
I also made my first tutu recently.
Here it is on my daughter.
I went a little overboard with the tulle….and made it longer then I would have liked. But she likes it.
{as long as she is wearing leggings or tights underneath}
Cotton Candy anyone?!
Here is a Custom Birthday Set I made.
I really enjoyed making these.
I finally made something for my son too.
Here is another pic of him since I’m always posting pics of the girl.
Oooooooh, I just love him!
Another kids item I added to the shop…..
Good old crayon rolls.
For the girlies:
For the little dudes:
So there you go, a glimpse into what I’ve been up to.
I’d love to hear about what you’ve busy doing.
I’ll make sure to blog again soon.
Since I cleaned my studio, I have some scrapbooking goodies to give away.
I’ll make sure to get pics and get that posted
Have a good one!!
Shop Update & Sale
I’ve been busy sewing away. I finally got around to taking some product pictures, and added them to the shop.
Here are a few of the goodies.
Swell Zippy Pouch
Lovebirds Key Fob Wristlet
Pink Damask Cell Phone Pouch
Create You Own Adjustable Dog Collar
and
Knit Owl Dress {sizes 0-3 mo. – 5t}
Along with a bunch of other fun stuff.
Best of all, the WHOLE shop is on sale until Friday 8/20.
Sew Dressy
Have you sewn or crafted anything lately? I have to say that I keep my sewing machines pretty busy.
This last week especially. I made some new products for the shop. I finally took photos so I need to list them.
I also made more dresses for my little Fia. She now has a million and one handmade dresses
But for real, I like to try different styles.
I had never made a peasant style dress before last week.
I made this one:
For some reason I made the 5t instead of 4t. So of course it’s a little big on my munchkin.
I have also been wanting to sew with knits. When I went to JoAnn’s I saw the cutest fabric, and made this:
It matches her colorful Cotton Blossom’s hat perfectly, see?!
I also made a little rolled rosette hair clip with the scraps.
So much cute…I can barely handle it.
(do you see how much her hair has grown since she cut it herself HERE)
I think I pretty much have this dress style down pat.
They are even cuter when the sleeves are a different fabric then the dress.
Speaking of different, have you ever seen the Lil Blue Boo Dresses?
Ashley makes the most amazing up-cycled dresses.
She also sells the pattern so that those of us that can sew can make them.
I purchased the Sienna Dress pattern a while back.
My hubby and I hit the local Salvation Army Saturday, and I walked out of there with 39 tees.
They were 99 cents, and super cute so I HAD to get them.
The I raided my closet, and the kids, and hubs.
Here is the 2nd one I made: (the 1st is not pic worthy, trust me)
and on the girlie
perfect dress for dancing
The bottom of this dress is actually a jersey cotton pillowcase I found in the closet.
It’s so soft, and Fia loves it. This was clear since she wore it to bed last night.
As well as tell me that she wants to wear it even when it snows.
I went back to the thrift store today and left with 34 more tees.
I think I have a new addiction, 99 cent thrifted tees.
Is there a group for that? Seriously, I already need Fabric-holics Anonymous. lol
See what I mean? I am 100% serious..I need help!
Anyhoo, this is the dress I made today in the works
Now it’s all done
The reason I went thrifting today was because I was hunting for a blue & white striped shirt to match the Kerropi Tee.
Kerropi, the frog has a blue & white striped shirt on. So the blue and white stripe tee was a perfect match.
I love it!!
I am debating on making some for sale. But still haven’t decided. I would have to purchase a license thru LBB first.
We shall see
What have you been up to? Make anything fun?
If yes link up and do share.
I wish, wish, wish list {Mommy Edition}
I don’t know about you but I love to window shop online.
I have come across several items that I REALLY, REALLY want to have.
I figured they are swoon worthy enough to post about them.
Like this beautiful necklace from Lisa Leonard
It makes me smile
I would also love one of these camera bags from Jo-Totes
I like the pink one too…
These are supa-fly!
How’s about a few camera lenses to go in my new camera bag?
Like the Canon EF 50mm 1.4 lens
I think I’m going to settle for the lower end 50mm lens the 1.8 instead. It’s a LOT cheaper.
and the Canon Telephoto EF 85mm 1.8 lens
Those are beauties.
I would also love to participate in a local Photography workshop.
That would be absolutely amazing!!!!!
My laptop is dying off slowly but surely.
So, this Dell would be really nice.
Either in the purple or green, I’m not picky. ;-)
That is a few of the goodies on my wish list.
*clearing throat*
Family.
Enjoy the remainder of your weekend!
Tutorials for your handmade Biz
Okay, this tutorial link post is dedicated to items for a handmade biz.
Owning and running a handmade biz can get pretty pricey.
You need business cards, sewn items need labels, etc.
If your already crafty why not do some of these things yourself?
Some of these things are just too easy not to do yourself.
First off is the inspiration for this post:
How to Make Your Own Hang Tags
from Saltwater Kids.
This is seriously an awesome idea, for reals!
Here is an Eco Friendly option from Handmade News
Crafting A Green World shows you several Eco Friendly Tag options:
Labels are another need for sewn items. They can be super pricey.
Here are several different label options how to’s
Ribbon Label from Silly Gilly
Twill Tape Labels from Patchwork Pottery
Fabric Labels from Sew Take a Hike
Packaging is also something to think about.
I warp my goods in tissue paper and seal with a custom label that says Thank You and my biz name.
There are so many amazing packaging ideas.
Some depend on the type of item you make and sell.
Here are a few cool ideas for different products.
Magdoline shows us how to wrap Soaps.
Daniellexo gives you an array of packaging ideas on The Storque
Hmmmm, something to definitely work on.

For the love of Yard Sales!
Yards Sales are a common Saturday activity for my family {as long as the weather is nice}.
I am fortunate that my hubby loves to go just as much as me, if not more.
Together we find some amazing items, at amazing prices.
Most of the time {but not always} I spot the item I want and tell him how much I would be willing to spend.
At that point Sir Cheap-O does the haggling
This weekend we got a late start.
The first house we pulled up to, I spotted something amazing.
Hubs got out of the car while I stayed in with the kids.
I saw him scoping out the same item I spotted.
He came back to the car and I asked how much it was, apparently it said “Make an Offer”.
So I told him I would be willing to spend $20, that’s it.
Off he went to do his thing {he is really good at the haggling part, since he’s super cheap}
He started out with a $10 offer.
The lady countered with $30.
You see where I’m going here…..We got it for $20.
Check it out!
With some sanding, some paint, and pretty crystal knobs.
{All of the work was done thanks to hubby}
We ended up with this:
PS: Please excuse picture taken by my phone.
Love, love, love the outcome!
Now we need to get it upstairs in the little girlies room.
Unfortunately, I am having some issues with my back and can’t lift anything.
So at the moment it’s chilin’ in the dining room.
Have you found any awesome goods at yard sales, or thrifting lately?
Leave me a link, I love to see good deals, and transformations of said good deals.
